Making a first birthday slideshow
A first-year slideshow is a lovely way to share a baby's year with grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends, and to keep for later. The hard part is choosing from all those phone photos; the easy part is Porchlight.

Tips
- If you took a monthly milestone photo, those make a perfect backbone for the slideshow.
- Pick 5 to 8 photos per month; a 4-minute slideshow is about right for a party with small children.
- Sort by date, then just delete the extras. The order takes care of itself.
- Export a video for grandparents who live far away.
How long should it be?
3 to 5 minutes: about 40 to 70 photos with one or two songs.
Choosing music for a first birthday
- The lullabies you sang all year.
- A song that was playing when the baby came home.
- Something cheerful for the first steps and the messy meals.
Porchlight plays MP3, WAV and FLAC files you have; it doesn't provide music. You're responsible for having the right to use the music and photos in your slideshow, whether you're building, publishing, uploading, playing or sharing it.

Can I add the baby's name and age in months?
Yes. Text slides let you add titles like "6 months" in elegant fonts, anywhere on the screen.
Is Porchlight Slideshow free?
You can download it free and build and preview your whole slideshow. A one-time $39 license lets you publish it to a USB stick and export it as a video, with no subscription. Porchlight Player, for watching, is always free.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
